"hey add extra weight which makes the launch and landing more expensive."- I'm pretty sure they can come up with a track made of some composite material. At the speed it travels wear is a none issue."Mostly they are prone to getting jammed up with junk. This isn't a problem for a multi tonne bulldozer with a multi kilowatt power plant that can pretty much crush and brute force away all but the worst blockages."- You have to take into account that machines like a bulldozer or a tank move in a violent way so junk is more likely to get in the tracks. This is a gentle slow moving robot we're talking about."And finally, if the track breaks the probe is pretty much stuck"- If the wheels break then the probe is pretty much stuck too. So? In all i'm pretty damn sure there is a reason they didn't go with the most used multi-terrain mean of moving a vehicle. I guess that energy efficiency was a big factor. Though your multi wheel explanation is spot on, still, it got jammed in sand in a planet that is covered in sand. As an engineer for nasa this would be one of my primary tests. To see how much sand the rover can take. Of course if it goes over a deep "pool" of loose sand, larger than the robot, i guess there is no "wheel" system that could help it get out because it would sink all at the same time. I would love to work for such a project and test out prototypes. :)?
Not sure if they were banning for hard drives but they were banning for unofficial storage units (memory cards?) because people are using those for cheating online. It should be a regular occurrence that people using online cheats are banned from Live just like if you were to cheat on the Steam service you would be completely banned from Steam until you got a new account and bought new games. |

I am never clear on the rules for this stuff. Do you think it was seized because they were mislabeled or seized for being bongs? Must be the mislabeled part because they're for sale all over the place.

I welcome a new web browser, but I don't put a lot of faith in MS's attempts. Even today, on Windows XP, any version of IE locks up after opening a certain number of windows/tabs. This happens on almost all of our corporate and home machines - for any developer when IE can't even open a web page (you know, what its designed to do), it's time to use something else. I suspect a deadlock problem with one of the service packs that came out. No my machine is not ***** up, I'm talking 30+ machines here.I don't hate IE cause it's bad at rendering, I hate IE because MS can't code the basic stuff to work. Like how the windows explorer hangs with mapped drives that can't be contacted or cd drives that are in mid-read? For people that are supposed to teach us about seperating UI code from implementation code, they do a bad job of it even on core pieces of Windows. |
